Founded in 1979, we began as an organization dedicated to advocating for policy change to further the interests of senior centers and agencies in New York City. Today, we are at the forefront of shaping the future of aging by developing new ideas that take the form of advocacy, policy and program development and incubation. SNAP Outreach Program

The SNAP Outreach Program is a partnership between the Council of Senior Centers and Services of NYC, Inc. (CSCS), AARP, and NYC Department for the Aging (DFTA). Our program is striving to end elder hunger by increasing awareness and participation of SNAP and other existing food and benefits programs. The Outreach Program is an innovative and unique model that uses a team of SNAP specialists, recruited ReServists, (highly trained retired professionals) to educate, screen, and assist older adults with their SNAP applications in all five boroughs of NYC.
