    Description of Event: Visions Westchester Adivsory Board sponsors yearly Thanksgiving dinners for Visions Westchester clients. This event is held at the Westchester Reform Temple at in Scarsdale. Blind seniors, adults and families with blind children are invited. We expect around 70 guests this year. Visions works with local Lions clubs to provide transportation to the event. The events includes a dinner and entertainment.

    Description: Visions at Selis Manor is a community center providing social services, adopted recreation and volunteer services to people who are blind and visually impaired. On Monday, November 20, 2006, approximately 100 blind seniors will attend a Thanksgiving dinner from 3:30-5:00 PM and have an opportunity to socialize with their peers. Visions Senior Speakout Program provides a weekly support group for these seniors that includes a hot mean and a speaker on senior issues. Visions provides car service for frail, homebound seniors who otherwise would not be able to attend.

    Description: On Thanksgiving Day, Hudson Guild will provide a hot Thanksgiving meal for 225 homebound seniors and 110 seniors on-site at its Fulton Senior Center Site (see address). Hudson Guild Adult Services staff and community volunteers make this event possible thanks to funding to City Meals-on-Wheels.

    Description: The center will be holding their Thansgiving dinner on Tuesday, November 21st at 12:00. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served. The dining room will be decorated for the event. Over 100 members have already registered to share the meal. The kindergarten class of the Kinneret School will be visiting at 10:00AM that morning dressed as turkeys and they will present a program of songs.

Brooklyn

    Description: Heights and Hill Community Council has been sponsoring a community dinner for seniors at Grace Church for the past 34 years. Turkeys are cooked and donated by the local nursing home and everyone in the neighborhood donates pies for dessert. We serve close to 200 guests who would otherwise spend the holiday alone. We do not limit the number of colunteers and have almost as many volunteers as guests – and all have an equally good time! Come prepared to have a lot of fun! Not only do we feed the guests attending, we also deliver approximately 75 meals to seniors who can’t get out to celebrate with us, and we send all of our guests at the church home with food to go.
