Roy Reuther Senior Center, Rockaway Park and Brookdale Village participated in the Council of Senior Centers and Services Advocacy Day on May 11. This day was organized to protest the possible cuts to seniors and children around the city. Arthur Brangman, Mary Glover, Domingo Luna, and Dorothy Goodman of Roy Reuther Senior Center met with their City Councilman James Sanders Jr. at his offices at 250 Broadway in Manhattan. This building houses all the City Council offices and is directly opposite City Hall where a rally was held on the City Hall steps. The seniors were accompanied by their directors Sydney Lombardi, Faye Schwimmer and Linda Solomon. The seniors spoke to Sanders describing the senior center as their second home and what a tragedy it will be if any services are cut to NYC seniors; people who have worked all their lives to support these services and might now be denied at the very time they need services and community most.
