12th Annual Senior Advocacy Day at City Hall

AGING WITH INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY (AID) CAMPAIGN FOR NEW YORK CITYíS OLDER ADULTS

What Advocacy Day Is:

  • On Wednesday, May 2, 2007, CSCS will bring seniors to City Hall to meet in delegations with their Councilmember. THIS IS NOT A RALLY – IT IS INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS OF 4-7 SENIORS WITH THEIR COUNCILMEMBER.

  • Advocacy Day has proven to be a very effective tool to have seniors speak out on their own behalf regarding services.

Organizing of Advocacy Day:

  • The purpose of Advocacy Day at City Hall is to allow seniors to meet with their Councilmembers around a common agenda regarding funding for services and policies. CSCS will be sending you a packet of material in the coming weeks.

  • CSCS will set up all the meetings centrally with Councilmembers.

  • The day will begin with a 10:00 press conference on the steps of City Hall. More information will follow on this.

  • The meetings will most likely fall between 11:00 am – 12 noon that day, at 250 Broadway (across the street from City Hall) where the Councilmembers have their offices.

  • CSCS will organize the 51 delegations of seniors to meet with their councilmember.

  • Agencies will be responsible for their own transportation that day.
