REMINDER - PLEASE NOTE DATE OF HEARING - NOV. 25TH

JOINT CITY COUNCIL AGING/CONTRACTS COMMITTEE
HEARING, NOV. 25TH, ON BRONX MEALS-ON-WHEELS RFP

TESTIMONY AND GETTING SENIORS TO HEARING NEEDED

UPDATE:

• 200 people representing almost 100 agencies attended CSCS' November 6th membership meeting. Commissioner Edwin Mendez Santiago addressed the meals-on-wheels RFP and salary increases.

• The Bronx RFP has been delayed. At the membership meeting, Commissioner Mendez Santiago announced that DFTA planned to release the RFP at the end of November. If it happens at this time, this would be right after the City Council hearing.

SEND IN TESTIMONY - MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD- LOTS OF TESTIMONY IS NEEDED:

• Send a copy of your testimony to: Councilwoman Maria Baez, Aging Committee chair, Councilman Robert Jackson, Contracts Committee chair, and your local councilmember(s). The testimony should be no more than two pages.

• You can mail the testimony on agency letterhead to Baez and Jackson to: 
  Cheree Buggs, Counsel to Committee on Aging, 250 Broadway, 14th floor, NY, NY 10007. The copies will be forwarded from there.

• Talking points for testimony: Go on to CSCS website for updated talking points - www.cscs-ny.org - see home page under Action Alerts.

BRINGING SENIORS TO THE HEARING:

• TIME & LOCATION: Bronx County Courthouse, 851 Grand Concourse at 161st Street (near Yankee Stadium), Tuesday, Nov. 25th,10:00 AM.

• FILLING THE ROOM: The room holds about 100-125 people. We need to fill the room with seniors from all the boroughs. This is a citywide issue as we have to stop this in the Bronx. DFTA has made it clear they plan to go to all the boroughs.
