BUDGET NEGOTIATIONS HEATING UP – CALLS MUST CONTINUE OVER NEXT 2 WEEKS!
275 SENIORS PACKED THE ROOM AT AGING COMMITTEE BUDGET HEARING

1. CALLS TO COUNCILMEMBERS MUST CONTINUE THROUGHOUT JUNE – Call again even if you've called before. The message is:

"I ATTEND THE ___ SENIOR CENTER (or another program). DON'T VOTE FOR ANY BUDGET THAT INCLUDES CUTS TO SENIOR SERVICES"




"YO ASISTO LA ______ CENTRO DE ANCIANOS. POR FAVOR NO VOTAN POR CUALQUIER PRESUPUESTO QUE INCLUYE RECORTES A LOS SERVICIOS DE ANCIANOS."

2. INNOVATVE SENIOR CENTERS (ISC):

• There is opposition to Innovative Senior Centers because of the large number of cuts to senior centers and other senior services. The Wall Street Journal wrote an article about the hearing and ISC – read it at http://cscs-ny.org/advocacy/media/2011JuneTheWallStreetJournal-Article.php
• Click here for the list of sponsors that pre-qualified as eligible to apply for an ISC. The deadline was June 6th. CSCS does not know which agencies actually applied.
