YOU HAVE ALL GOTTEN ALMOST 10,000 LETTERS
SIGNED AND MAILED IN –
LET’S GO OVER THE TOP AND GET MORE THAN 10,000 ON BEHALF OF HOMEBOUND ELDERS! MAKE SURE WE RECEIVE THEM BY DEC. 13TH

COMMITTEE ON AGING DEC. 14TH HEARING HAS BEEN CANCELLED

THE CSCS PRESS CONFERENCE TO DELIVER THE LETTERS TO MAYOR BLOOMBERG IS STILL ON

The City Council has cancelled the Committee on Aging hearing because there was another hearing on Dec. 6th where Commissioner Lilliam Barrios-Paoli appeared before the City Council Finance Committee and questioned about the case management cut.

We need as many seniors as you can bring to our City Hall press conference:
Date: Tuesday, December 14th
Time: 12:00 noon
Location: City Hall steps

We will make this a short press conference because it’s cold out. Bring more letters if you have them and let us know how many. You are encouraged to bring signs protesting the cut to homebound elders. Remember, a 30% cut will put thousands of elders’ lives in jeopardy:

  • About 8,000 homebound elderly will lose case management services
  • Over 800 elders are on waiting lists meaning no social worker has been able to meet with them to assess their needs
  • Average caseload size is 71 seniors to one case manager
  • Over 110 social workers trained to work with elderly people will lose their jobs

  • Thanks for your active participation – you are the best!
