CSCS MAINTAINS STEADY PRESENCE AT CITY HALL –
DOWN TO THE WIRE OF CITY BUDGET PROCESS

STEADY DRUMBEAT OF CALL TO COUNCILMEMBERS IMPORTANT NOW!

BOROUGH PRESIDENT FUNDS MAY BE CUT –
CALL YOUR COUNCILMEMBERS NOW!

  • CSCS is sending you updates and calling member agencies as we are in the last week of the city budget process. The budget will be done by June 28th and maybe sooner. We greatly appreciate the strong response from each of you as you make these calls.
  • We are hearing that Borough President funds could be reduced. There is $6.1 million of Borough President funds in senior centers and services throughout the city and are critical to the operation of these programs. There are senior centers and adult day programs who would close, vans wouldn’t run, and many other critical services that BP funds support.
  • City Councilmembers need to hear from you regarding how important BP funds are to seniors in their district. BP funds support the same kind of services City Council discretionary dollars fund.

THE MESSAGE IS:

“My name is ______ from the ________ Senior Center (or name of program). Please do not cut any funds for senior centers and senior services. Borough President funds are very important to senior services so please don’t cut them. Thank you.”

  • If English is not their first language, please have someone translate for them as they make the calls – but the important thing is that lots of seniors call their Councilmembers.
