“BUDGET CUTS HURT: MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE”

  • Please print out and have everyone sign both flyers – for flyers in English, Spanish and Chinese. These flyers oppose cuts to senior centers and to home care. It is important that we all speak up for the invisible elderly facing cuts to their home care and for those sitting on waiting lists. It costs much less to let someone stay at home and avoid going into a nursing home.
  • Mail flyers in large envelopes to your Councilmember at this address:
    Councilmember ___, 250 Broadway, NY, NY 10007
      • Include a letter on your agency letterhead to your Councilmember letting them know the cuts will hurt your programs.
      • Put in one copy of the flyer in English to ensure that Councilmembers understand the message.
  • We need thousands of flyers signed and mailed in in the next 1-2 weeks. Ask your family, friends, neighbors and local businesses or organizations to also sign flyers.
  • Local media – Show these flyers to your local community or ethnic newspapers and ask them to write a story about the impact of these cuts on older New Yorkers. Reporters can contact Bobbie Sackman for more information – (212) 398-6565 x226 or bsackman@cscs-ny.org
