WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  1. Send thank you letters – see below

  2. Share these advocacy successes with seniors. Remember – 400 seniors came to City Hall on May 2nd and 200 seniors came to the Bronx Senior Budget forum on June 1st. Hundreds more sent in senior center “rent party” cups and made calls to Councilmembers. We couldn’t have won these funds without senior advocacy.

  3. Let DFTA and your Councilmembers know your agency’s rent needs. It is important that Councilmembers know how these funds help seniors in their district. Invite them to the center to thank them. CSCS submitted a list based on responses to our rent survey. Your agency should follow up with DFTA regarding rent needs.

  4. Healthy Aging Initiative – CSCS will update you on how these funds will be spent. Discuss how your agency would use these funds with your Councilmember. The funds are intended for health and wellness programs at senior centers.

  5. AGE Scholarships – CSCS will administer a program to provide scholarships for MSW students planning to work in gerontology. More information will follow in the fall.

IT IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO THANK YOUR COUNCILMEMBERS WHO SUPPORTED SENIOR SERVICES

SEND SENIOR CENTER “RENT PARTY” CUPS STATING –
“THANKS FOR THE $3 MILLION FOR SENIOR CENTER RENTS.” HAVE SENIOR SIGN NAME AND ADDRESS ON CUP.

LETTERS FROM YOUR AGENCY ARE ALSO IMPORTANT TO SEND –
